Man Utd defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah left in limbo over Old Trafford future
Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah has still not been told whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to trigger a one-year extension on his contract.
The 22-year-old Dutch defender will see his current deal end at the end of June – but United have the option of handing him another 12-month agreement.
Old Trafford sources have suggested that Solakjaer wants to keep Fosu-Mensah as part of his squad.
But the coronavirus crisis has seen talks put on hold and left the former Ajax trainee in limbo.
Fosu-Mensah can leave for nothing in the summer and there is no shortage of clubs willing to offer him a future.
But he is desperate to stay at Old Trafford and is prepared to wait until the lockdown is lifted for negotiations to resume.
Fosu-Mensah, who has won three international caps for Holland, made his first-team debut alongside Marcus Rashford four years ago.
But after breaking through under Louis van Gaal, his development stalled under Jose Mourinho.
He was loaned to Crystal Palace by Mourinho in 2017 and his form at Selhurst Park was good enough to win him full international honours.
That was followed by a loan spell at Fulham.
