Man Utd handed positive Alex Telles transfer boost as club launch ‘second offer’

Manchester United have reportedly made a second offer for Porto left-back Alex Telles, in a bid to get the deal over the line before the transfer window slams shut on October 5.

United have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian but Porto's asking price has been a sticking point.

The Portuguese club are asking for a fee of around £18m, while United's opening bid was £12m.

The Red Devils have been unwilling to pay Porto's asking price because Telles in the last year of his contract and would be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with any club in January.

Now, RMC Sport reporter Mohamed Bouhafsi is reporting that United have tabled a new bid, having already agreed personal terms with the player.

Portuguese journalist Rui Pedro Braz has gone one step further, claiming he believes the offer will be accepted.

Speaking on TVI24 show Mais Transferências, Braz said: "I think Alex Telles is going to be a Manchester United player."

When asked about United's transfer business earlier this month, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remained tight-lipped, saying: "Of course I want players in the building that we want to work with and who want to be a part of it, and who want to be here.

"You need the quality on the pitch. You also need the personal qualities but you also really want to be here. They need to show you that they want to be here.

"That’s really important for us as a group, that we move forward.

"It’s not as big a pool [of potential signings] as for other clubs. Being good enough for Man United is one thing, then you’ve got another club who probably want to keep that type of player too.
