Man Utd loanee Andreas Pereira facing six-game ban at Brazilian side Flamengo

Manchester United star Andreas Pereira is facing the prospect of a six-game ban for Brazilian side Flamengo after breaking quarantine rules when he arrived in South America.

Having spent the majority of last season at Serie A side Lazio, Pereira opted to join Flamengo on August 20 for the year.

It is mandatory for those arriving in Brazil from the UK to quarantine for 14 days as per the country's guidelines.

But the Superior Sports Court for Football in Brazil claims that Flamengo cut that short by around a week.

And now Pereira and his club are facing possible disciplinary action from the STJD.

In a statement on Friday, they said: "Flamengo and Andreas Pereira will be judged next Friday, October 8, by the Fifth Disciplinary Committee of the Superior Court of Sports Justice for Football.

"The club was denounced for having climbed halfway before the mandatory 14-day quarantine period established by ANVISA Ordinance 655/2021 for travellers passing through the United Kingdom.

"The player will be liable for conduct contrary to discipline or sports ethics.

"The virtual session is scheduled to start at 10:30 am and will be broadcast live on the STJD do Futebol website."

According to the complaint made, Flamengo have breached articles 191, I, II, II, 203 and 214 of the CBJD (Brazilian Sports Justice Code).

Meanwhile, Pereira is understood to have violated article 258.

Flamengo are facing the possibility of a penalty, while Pereira's ban could last between one to six games.

The statement from the STJD concludes: "The Attorney's Office also asks the CBF to present the epidemiological questionnaire filled out by Flamengo for the selection of Andreas in the match in question, against Santos himself, and the presentation by ANVISA of the forms and documents completed by the athlete upon entering Brazil."

Pereira has already featured in five Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A matches for third-place Flamengo, as well as helping his side reach the final of the Copa Libertadores.
