Paul Pogba has reportedly been offered a new £500,000-per-week bumper contract at Manchester United this week in a fresh bid to keep his services at the club – a move which would make him the highest-paid player in Premier League history.

Pogba, 28, joined United for £89million in 2016 from Italian giants Juventus, just four years after he left on a free transfer following disagreements with Sir Alex Ferguson over first-team opportunities.

The midfielder has enjoyed mixed fortunes at United since his return, winning a Europa League winners’ medal and a League Cup in his time at the Theatre of Dreams.

Yet with no Premier League title or any success whatsoever in the Champions League for the Red Devils, Pogba has now come to a crossroad in his career.

With just six months left on his current deal, he is able to sign pre-contract agreements with any team not playing in England, which may alert Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid to his availability.

However, Real Madrid are said to not be interested, while The Sun claim Pogba has been given the chance to become the highest-paid player of all-time in English football with United making a money-spinning offer in a bid to keep him.

The report states that the midfielder is yet to decide whether he will sign the deal proposed to him despite the incentives shown by United chiefs.

Sources fear he will leave the club in a bid to win more trophies, having won just two in his five years at Old Trafford.

United’s reported offer is undoubtedly one to consider for Pogba as it is supposedly £100,000-per-week more than any other potential suitor will offer him.

But with other clubs able to offer him a seismic signing-on fee as opposed to paying United a fee, a final decision to leave the Red Devils is still very much a possibility.

Agent Mino Raiola is reported to have offered his services to clubs across Europe.

A whole plethora of opportunities could now come the World Cup-winning French star’s way, and the midfielder may well wait for more offers before making a final decision on his future.

The £500,000-per-week offer would take Pogba above United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the highest-paid player in the Premier League on wages of £485,000-per-week.

But if he decides to leave, the report states that United already have their targets in place.

England hero Declan Rice is believed to be their priority should Pogba depart the club.

And Ruben Neves of Wolves has also been considered as a potential replacement.
