Brighton are looking to add at least one loan signing before the transfer window shuts, with Daniel James and Ryan Sessegnon both on their radar.

Seagulls boss Graham Potter wants more pace and width in his team and is a long-term admirer of Manchester United winger James.

The 22-year-old was left out of the squad for Saturday’s win at Brighton amid talk of a potential move to Leeds.

But Potter gave him his league debut when the pair were together at Swansea and is interested in a reunion.

The Seagulls have also made an enquiry about Spurs misfit Sessegnon, who may have to leave the club for regular first-team football.

Sessegnon, 20, has yet to make the Tottenham squad in the Premier League this season and was an unused sub against Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the Europa League.

He also has interest from Southampton but is more likely to see action at the Amex if a deal can be done.

But Spurs are demanding a loan fee and want Sessegnon’s wages paid in full, and do not want an option to buy included.

James made the Old Trafford move from Swansea last summer, impressing as he scored three goals in his first four Premier League games.

But he struggled to keep up that form, becoming an impact sub before being resigned to warming the bench at the end of last season.

And his only appearance of the current campaign came in the 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace, lasting for just the first half before being replaced by Mason Greenwood.

While Sessegnon has suffered a similar fate, making just 12 appearances last season after his £25m move from Fulham.

Brighton have suffered a tough start to the 2020/21 campaign, losing two games and winning one to sit 12th in the table.

But James may be more attracted out of the two to an Amex Stadium transfer as it would mean a reunion with Potter, who helped him score five goals in 38 games for the 2018/19 season.

And the south-coast side are “relishing” the prospect of beating Leeds to his signature.
