Man Utd’s list of transfer targets as Solskjaer ‘furious’ plans have been leaked

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was left 'furious' last month when Paul Pogba's agent Mino Raiola announced the Frenchman wants to leave Manchester United.

Solskjaer was angry that Man United transfer plans were being announced mid-season, and the night before the Red Devils were knocked out of the Champions League.

Raiola later came out to play down the urgency of which Pogba should leave United, but he stands by the fact the Frenchman's time at Old Trafford has reached its conclusion.

United will obviously have a large hole in midfield in need of filling if Pogba is to leave, but Solskjaer will be encouraged by Ed Woodward's promise of funds.

"We see positive signs on the pitch and the training ground that reinforce our belief in the progress being made by Ole, his coaching team and the players," Woodward said recently, in a fans' forum meeting held virtually with Manchester United supporters.

"I told this forum back in April that we remained committed to strengthening the squad, while being disciplined in our spending during the pandemic.

"I believe we've delivered on that, with the additions we made during the summer taking our total net spending to over €200million (£180m) since summer 2019 – more than any other major European club over that period.

"We will continue to support Ole with a planned, long-term approach to recruitment, focused on the summer windows."

Here we look at the players reportedly on Manchester United's radar and the stars who could leave the club in the near future.

The possible ins…

Jadon Sancho

The long-term target who United tried and failed to sign in the summer transfer window.

Dortmund gave United a deadline, which the Red Devils missed, and the German club then extended Sancho's contract for good measure.

Sancho remains a United target but it's very unlikely the Old Trafford giants will make a move in January. As Woodward said, the summer remains the club's key window.

Jack Grealish

Another player who has been on United's radar for a while.

Mirror Sport understands Aston Villa are bracing themselves for a bid from United, as Liverpool and Man City join the race for Grealish's signature.

Grealish is Villa captain and a fan-favourite, but the lure of Champions League football may be too much for the England international.

Again, United are unlikely to make a January move.

Renato Sanches

Liverpool have been linked with the midfielder in recent weeks, but reports in Italy claim United have joined the race for his signature.

Gazzetta Dello Sport claim United are surveying Sanches' situation and have learnt that the Portuguese won't cost more than £23million.

Dayot Upamecano

Manchester United's defence is something Solskjaer is keen on strengthening and RB Leipzig star Upamecano is on the Red Devils' wishlist.

Solskjaer admitted he was excited to see the defender in action when the two sides met in the Champions League earlier this season.

"There's always rumours and speculation about good players for Manchester United," Solskjaer said. "I've always tried to respect [that] they are players for other teams and don't want to comment on every player we are linked to.

"But since he's playing against us tomorrow, I know he's a very good player and we can see him close up tomorrow."

Kieran Trippier

The former Tottenham defender is on United's radar, with the Red Devils said to be 'pushing hard' to make the transfer happen, according to reports from Spain.

The right-back is an established player in Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid team and the Spaniards have made it clear Trippier is not for sale.

But the lure of returning to England may appeal to the right-back.

Ben White

The Red Devils are reportedly huge admirers of the centre-back, who fits Solskjaer's philosophy of buying young and, hopefully, on the cheap.

United are considering a swoop, and may even do so in January if the price is right.

And the possible outs

Paul Pogba

As aforementioned, Pogba wants out at Manchester United as he is said to be "unhappy" and ready for a new challenge.

United are reportedly open to the idea of selling the Frenchman as it will free up his wages, which can be used on a player who actually wants to be at the club.

Even before Raiola back-tracking it seemed unlikely that Pogba would be allowed to leave midway through the season, ruling out a January exit.

But at the end of this campaign he will more than likely be in a Juventus shirt once again.

Sergio Romero

A forgotten figure at United, and a man left out of the club's Premier League and Champions League squads this season.

The goalkeeper has been linked with David Beckham's Inter Miami in recent weeks.

Marcos Rojo

Another man Solskjaer decided to leave out of the Manchester United's Premier League and Champions League squads this season.

The defender is very far down the pecking order and the Red Devils will snap someone's hand off to move him on in January.

Phil Jones

Much the same as Rojo. Jones' career at United has come to an end, with the centre-back having played no part in the Red Devils' season to date.

Unlike Rojo, the defender is perhaps more likely to get a Premier League move.
