Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick will be without three key players for tonight’s Premier League clash with Burnley, according to reports. The Red Devils go into the game looking to respond after a disappointing draw with Newcastle earlier in the week. Victory is certainly needed with the club’s involvement in next season’s Champions League currently up in the air.

Manchester United had, prior to the match against Newcastle on Monday, won their first two Premier League matches under Rangnick.

However, the draw at St James’ Park was a major setback – especially given the dire performance that came with it.

United now go into this evening’s match with Burnley looking to claim all three points and boost their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Rangnick will be without three key players as he looks to steer his side back to winning ways.

The biggest absentee is Anthony Martial, who is keen to leave the club for Sevilla when the transfer window reopens next month.

United have, for years, stuck by the France international despite his inconsistency.

Yet they’re running out of patience and Rangnick has indicated he’s willing to listen to offers for the 26-year-old, who has scored just one goal this season.

Martial wants to join Sevilla but the La Liga side aren’t the only team in the mix when it comes to recruiting the France international.

Juventus have been linked, with the Old Lady struggling under Massimiliano Allegri following the summer departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Newcastle are also keen, though their current Premier League predicament makes a move to Tyneside problematic.

And Lyon, the club who Martial first started his career at before leaving for Monaco, are another team courting the United star.

United are also said to still be without Victor Lindelof and Paul Pogba, too.

Lindelof recently tested positive for coronavirus, meaning Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane are primed to make up Rangnick’s centre-back pairing for tonight’s match.

And Pogba has been out injured ever since United’s 2-2 Champions League draw with Atalanta back at the start of November.

Despite missing the trio, however, United have apparently gone with a strong squad for the match at Old Trafford.

Goalkeepers David De Gea, Tom Heaton and Dean Henderson will all be involved, despite the latter being linked with a move away.

For defenders, United have gone with Maguire, Varane, Eric Bailly, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw, Alex Telles and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

In midfield, Fred, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek and Jesse Lingard are all in contention to start.

And United have forwards Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Elanga with them as they look to put Burnley to the sword.

Speaking ahead of the match with Burnley, Rangnick has called on his side to be physical.

“Again, this will also be a physical one,” said the 63-year-old.

“Burnley is very direct, very physical and we need to have solutions against that, both on the ball and against the ball.”

When asked if it makes them harder to play, he added: “Yes but this is Premier League football, most of the teams play like that, even when I watched the games [on Boxing Day I saw that], it is physical football.

“We need to take that on and be able to compete on that level.”

United beat Burnley 3-1 in the same fixture last season.

Cavani scored twice for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team, with Mason Greenwood also finding the net.
