Former Real Madrid defender Marcelo has rejoined Fluminense after leaving Olympiacos

Marcelo had a short stint at Olympiacos following his trophy-laden spell at Real Madrid

He left the Greek side earlier this month after his contract was terminated by mutual consent

Marcelo previously played for Fluminense’s youth team between 2002 and 2005 before representing them at senior level as he made 30 appearances, while he won the Campeonato Carioca and the Taca Rio when he was at the club.

After leaving Fluminense in 2007 he moved to Real Madrid and enjoyed a lengthy stay until 2022, playing over 500 times for Los Blancos.

During his time at Real, Marcelo won six LaLiga titles, five Champions Leagues and two Copa del Reys as well as four FIFA Club World Cups.

On the international stage, Marcelo made 56 appearances for Brazil between 2006 and 2018. He was part of the squad that won the Confederations Cup in 2013.

Having departed Real at the end of last season, Marcelo moved to Olympiacos, but his spell at the Greek club didn’t go as planned as he played just five times in the league, with suspension and injury not helping his cause.
