Mikel Arteta has confirmed Arsenal are planning to let certain players leave on loan before the January transfer window draws to a close on Monday night.

The Gunners have completed two loan deals themselves this month, first bringing Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan to The Emirates as cover for No.1 shot-stopper Bernd Leno.

Last week they also added Martin Odegaard to Arteta’s ranks, with the Norwegian starlet joining on loan from Real Madrid until the end of the season.

They have also sanctioned two loan departures; William Saliba has ventured back to France to sign a temporary deal with Nice, while Sead Kolasinac has been granted a move to Schalke.

Meanwhile, outcasts Mesut Ozil and Sokratis have left Arsenal on a permanent basis to join Fenerbahce and Olympiacos respectively.

And with not long to go until the transfer deadline passes, Ainsley Maitland-Niles is being linked with a loan move away from the club.

The 23-year-old, who has struggled for game time this season, is said to be attracting interest from Leicester, Southampton and West Brom.

His fellow academy graduate Joe Willock, 21, could also leave on loan before the window closes, with reports suggesting Newcastle are keen to bring him to St James’ Park.

Reiss Nelson is another Gunners youngster who has been tipped to depart this month, however there does not appear to be too many options on the table for the 21-year-old.

Speaking at his latest press conference, Arteta revealed that Arsenal have identified players who can leave on loan and are now “working on it”.

He said: “We have decided [who could leave on loan] and we are working on it. You will find out before 11pm.”

The Mirror also claim Arsenal are eyeing up a last-ditch move for Crystal Palace star Patrick van Aanholt to provide cover for Kieran Tierney at left-back.

Van Aanholt is out of contract at Selhurst Park this summer and could therefore be available on the cheap before the window closes.

When asked about potential incomings on deadline day, Arteta said: “The last day of the transfer window is always unpredictable so things can happen. They might happen, they might not happen. We are on it.”
