Newcastle vs Manchester United LIVE: Latest score, goals and updates from Premier League fixture tonight


Newcastle host Manchester United in Saturday night’s Premier League fixture.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have endured a torrid start to the season, and their 6-1 thrashing by Tottenham before the international break has many observers suggesting the club are in crisis.

United need an emphatic victory here to quell such talk, but Newcastle are in promising form and will fancy their chances of piling more misery on the Red Devils. Follow all the live action at the conclusion of Man City vs Arsenal: 

60 mins: The ball went out for a corner an Mata takes it. He picks out Harry Maguire again who gets another solid head to the ball but Jonjo Shelvey clear is off the line! It’s all happening out there.

58 mins: SAVE! Bruno Fernandes is denied by a fantastic save from Karl Darlow, For the first time in a Man Utd shirt Fernandes misses a spot kick.  

Penalty to Man Utd

57 mins: Craig Pawson has a few looks at the replays and is happy that Jamal Lewis made contact with Marcus Rashford’s shin in the box and it is a penalty to Manchester United!

54 mins: Mata, over on the right, finds Fernandes who lays it off to the edge of the box for Fred. Fred has a go and puts it wide of goal.

Manchester United are throwing everything they’ve got at finding a second goal. 

51 mins: Fred’s pass to Shaw is cut out and Newcastle sweep forward. Allan Saint-Maximin works the ball into the left side of the box and chips it into  Callum Wilson. He sticks out a leg and taps the ball at goal. De Gea dives low and keeps the ball out with hi sleft hand. 

48 mins: Marcus Rashford continues his good form with some fancy footwork on the edge of the Newcastle area and passes to Bruno Fernandes, looking for the one-two, but the return pass is cut out.

Second half: Newcastle get the match back underway. No changes from either side at the break. 

45+3 mins: Half time. Competent display from Man Utd in the first half. They responded well to going behind and have actually managed to break Newcastle down on a few occassions, something they hadn’t been able to do recently. 

Newcastle are very predictable, they went in front and then dropped deep leaving Wilson with scraps and forcing Saint-Maximin to counter attack. If they play the same way in the second half Man Utd will win this game. 

42 mins: Luke Shaw goes on a driving run at the back line and lays it off to Rashford. He shoots from outside the area and forcing Darlow into another low save.
