Ole Gunnar Solskjaer takes sly dig at Mino Raiola over Paul Pogba’s Man Utd woes

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took a sly dig at Paul Pogba ’s agent Mino Raiola after naming the midfielder in his starting line-up against Manchester City on Saturday night.

Raiola made plenty of headlines last Monday by claiming Pogba’s time at Old Trafford is coming to an end, which certainly didn’t go down well with Solskjaer.

After their 3-2 defeat away at RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday, which knocked them out of the competition, the Norwegian said: “As soon as Pogba's agent realises it is a team sport the better.”

Pogba was dropped to the bench in Germany and was expected to be left out once more against City, yet in a surprising twist Solskjaer picked the Frenchman to start alongside Fred and Scott McTominay in midfield.

And after making the shock selection, the United manager took a sly dig at Raiola in his pre-match interview with Sky Sports – urging Pogba to do his talking on the pitch.

“There is no point talking off the pitch, you have to talk on the pitch as a footballer and that is where the proof is,” Solskjaer said.

“You cannot stop good players from playing well if they concentrate on their performances. Paul has been focused on his football."

According to the Daily Mail, Pogba and Solskjaer had a heart-to-heart following Tuesday’s defeat at Leipzig.

It is believed the pair sat down and held crunch talks about his future at Old Trafford, with their relationship still reportedly strong.

When recently asked if Pogba is happy at United, Solskjaer said: “You have to ask Paul if he is happy or not, I won't speak for him.

“He's working hard in training and he just needs to focus on his performances.”

United can temporarily move level on points with Chelsea in third place by toppling City, although the Blues’ goal difference is superior.

Nevertheless, Solskjaer’s men have a game-in-hand over their Premier League rivals having started the season a week later than anticipated due to their European exploits at the end of last term.
