Petr Cech sends extensive message to Arsenal board about Mikel Arteta

Chelsea legend Petr Cech believes Mikel Arteta can turn things around at Arsenal and has urged the board to back the Spaniard.

Arsenal manager Arteta is under increasing pressure in north London with results continuing to go against his side.

The Gunners have the second-worst form in the Premier League since game week five and were beaten in the Carabao Cup quarter-final last time out.

Cech, who played alongside Arteta at Arsenal, is well aware that the Gunners are performing well below the standards expected of them.

But he is equally sure that Arteta can still turn things around.

He told talkSPORT: "It's hard for any manager when results don't go your way and then you try to change the way the team play or the philosophy of the football.

"This is the hardest part in football because it's easy to suddenly say this is not working and do something else but you can't do that all the time.

"But of course in modern football it's the results that count and at the end of the day you need to find your balance to have success and the way you do it."
