Premier League referee Clattenburg "told you to f*** off", says Schmeichel
Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel says that former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg was his favourite top-flight official because "he'd tell you to f*** off" if he felt that you deserved it.
County Durham official Clattenburg was once seen as the top official in England, and took charge of high-profile matches internationally including the finals of the Champions League and the European Championships in 2016.
Soon after those finals Clattenburg made a surprise move to ditch English football and head to Saudi Arabia, where he became the country's head of refereeing in place of former Premier League referee Howard Webb.
And Schmeichel says that he "loved" the way that Clattenburg refereed the game.
“I used to love Mark Clattenburg," the 2015/16 Premier League winner said in the new episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast from BBC Sounds. "No bulls*** – he’d tell you to f*** off if you were being a d***.”
In February the Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling accused Premier League official Jon Moss of "zero respect" when talking to the Cherries players in a 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United.
“The officials talk about respect at the start of the season and there was zero respect from Jon Moss," said the former Everton man.
