Premier League return date: Is this when the PL could come back?

Premier League football has been put on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. Several meetings have since taken place to discuss possible ways of concluding the season.

The Premier League said earlier this month it was committed to returning “as soon as it is safe and possible to do so”.

A statement read: “The progress of COVID-19 remains unclear and we can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority.

“We will continue to follow Government advice and work collaboratively to keep the situation under review and explore all options available to find ways of resuming the season when the conditions allow.

“We would all like to re-emphasise that our thoughts are with everyone affected by COVID-19.”

When could the Premier League return?

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has suggested on social media that the top-flight intends to resume on June 8.

“June 8th for the @premierleague return!” Neville tweeted.

“This is being briefed anonymously. No-one wants to put their name against this one!”

As it stands, no date has been confirmed by the Premier League.
