Rashford injury update with Man Utd star unable to put weight on left foot
Marcus Rashford has avoided any ankle ligament damage but is suffering with a great deal of pain after his injury on Sunday.
Manchester United’s star forward, who has played in every single match for his club so far this season, hobbled away at the Etihad.
The England international left fans concerned after taking his boot off and heading down the tunnel with the help of United’s medical team.
The 23-year-old has managed to avoid any ligament damage, according to BBC Sport, following scans on the issue.
But Rashford remains a worry heading towards Thursday’s crunch Europa League round of 16 first leg tie against AC Milan.
The United goalscorer, who set up Luke Shaw’s goal in the 2-0 win at City, is unable to put any real weight on his left foot still.
There is believed to be swelling and bruising around his ankle, and he is subsequently doubtful to play on Thursday.
Having played in all 43 matches for United this season, it could serve as a welcome enforced rest.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been reluctant to give his No.10 a break, even though he is still suffering with a shoulder problem that may require surgery after Euro 2020 this summer.
United will have to reshape their team if Rashford misses the Milan clash and Edinson Cavani doesn’t return in time either.
Solskjaer is waiting to see if the Uruguayan hitman will be fit for Thursday after sitting out the Manchester derby.
Mason Greenwood is ready to come in as part of United’s attack, while Daniel James has been in good form of late too.
