Real Madrid could hand Manchester United a double blow as they close in on the signing of Eduardo Camavinga on transfer deadline day. The Rennes midfielder has reportedly agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with the La Liga giants – and it could have ramifications for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side beyond the current transfer window.
Camavinga has been on United’s radar for some time with the Premier League giants in need of a defensive midfielder.
That need was clearly shown up during Sunday’s clash against Wolves, in which Fred was given the runaround by Adama Traore before Mason Greenwood struck to secure a barely deserved win for the Red Devils.
Having starred in Ligue 1 for Rennes, 18-year-old Camavinga was seen as an ideal target for United – especially given he has entered the final year of his contract.
He was also tracked by Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona – but now looks set to join Los Blancos.

Camavinga has agreed personal terms with Madrid until the summer of 2026, according to transfer watcher Fabrizio Romano.
If he heads to the Bernabeu, not only will United miss out on a player who could have starred in their midfield for years to come, but it could help persuade his compatriot Paul Pogba to follow him when his contract expires.
Camavinga has previously said he is “inspired by Paul Pogba” – and the United man returned the compliment after seeing him score against Ukraine on his full debut for France.
“It is a pleasure to see him don the shirt,” Pogba said. “To score after his first start, that is honestly wonderful.

“I was truly happy for him. I only wish him the best and much more. He has everything for that. His future is in his hands.
“He is very at ease, he is a little dancer. He makes me think a bit about me. He is not a timid person.
“It is good, because he is confident. He has confidence in his qualities. He is a very good youngster, I like him enormously.”
Pogba has of course previously been linked with Madrid, and is now inside the final year of his own contract.
Unless he signs an extension, the 28-year-old World Cup winner will be available on a free transfer next summer, and could be tempted by a club link-up with a wonderkid who is set to star alongside him for France.
Transfer deadline day done deals: Every Premier League move
United will hope that the summer signings of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho can spur them onto success, and help persuade Pogba to sign a new deal.
The capture of Camavinga might have helped in that regard – but it seems Solskjaer’s side look set to miss out.
