Real Madrid star Gareth Bale submits Man Utd transfer demand despite Tottenham talks

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has demanded Manchester United sign him permanently instead of on loan, reports say. The Red Devils and Tottenham have both been linked with the Wales international. And he appears set to finally leave the Bernabeu behind after seven years at the club.

Real Madrid beat Manchester United to the signing of Bale back in the summer transfer window of 2016, bringing him to the Bernabeu in a huge £86million deal.

Now, however, they’re preparing to cut him loose.

Tottenham appear to be frontrunners in the race to sign the 31-year-old, with the player’s agent admitting his client was keen to make the move back to the capital.

But the Daily Star say Bale has told United to sign him permanently if they’re to have any shot at bringing him to Old Trafford.

He doesn’t want to move to the club on loan as a short-term alternative to Jadon Sancho, who is still the club’s priority transfer target.

And with United unwilling to spend big on Bale, who earns in the region of £500,000-a-week over in Spain, that has given Tottenham a shot at bringing him back.

Tottenham are currently locked in talks with Real over a deal for the Wales international, with Dele Alli potentially heading in the opposite direction.

And former Aston Villa star Gabriel Agbonlahor has backed a potential move abroad for Alli, insisting Jose Mourinho ‘can kill players’ with his style of management.

“Jose Mourinho can kill players, he’s done it in every club he has been at,” Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT.

“At Man United he tried to do it with Pogba with Shaw and I feel like Dele Alli might be his new target.

What Man Utd chief Ed Woodward thinks about Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho

“Look what he’s done to Danny Rose, which I thought was a disgrace and he’s still Spurs’ best left-back.

“I feel with Dele Alli, something has happened there between there between them.

“From what I heard he wasn’t even meant to start the Everton game. Steven Bergwijn had a migraine during the warm up or before the game and that’s why Alli started.

“For him to drag him at half-time for me was a bit of an insult as I feel like he could have dragged Harry Kane or other players before him.

“There’s something else going on there and I feel like if Dele Alli can try and get out to Real Madrid on a swap deal is a no brainer. He’d do better at Real Madrid than he would do at Spurs.”

Premier League done deals: Every confirmed transfer in the summer window so far

Meanwhile, speaking last week, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted he was happy with his current squad – and admitted transfers were tricky this summer following the coronavirus crisis.

Asked how many players he would like to add to his squad in total this summer, Solskjaer said: “I never set myself a target, like scoring 20 goals as a player.

“You just have to go day by day, making sure you develop and improve.

“We have a vision of where we want to get to but know so many things can come in the way. I believe in seeing how the team and club develops.

“We are developing team, a year or so into our rebuild. We had to make some decisions last summer and throughout the season we have seen how this team is getting better and getting used to each other.”
