Ribery ‘got mad’ when Alaba looked at his Ferrari during Bayern Munich days
Former Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery apparently once took issue with team-mate David Alaba when he looked at his Ferrari while they were having lunch together at the Frenchman’s house.
Ribery joined Bayern in 2007 from Marseille, while Alaba joined as a teenager from Austria Wien a year later.
The pair spent more than a decade together in Munich, where they won several trophies including the Bundesliga, the DFB Pokal and DFL Supercup on multiple occasions, as well as the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup in 2013.
Both eventually left the club on a free, with Ribery joining Italian side Fiorentina in 2019, and Alaba signing for Real Madrid in the summer just gone.
During an interview with Italian outlet Il Corriere della Serra in 2019, Ribery told of an occasion where he invited Alaba to his house for lunch.
It was there where Ribery encouraged the Austrian midfielder to focus on improving as a player, rather than the luxuries that come with being a professional footballer.
"Alaba was 16 years old, I took him home for lunch and encouraged him,” Ribery said. “One day he saw my Ferrari and my watch on my wrist.
“I got mad and told him not to look at them and just think about improving and focusing on the field. Later, and only later, the rest would come. Alaba has done it and now he thanks me.”

After spending two seasons with Fiorentina, Ribery joined newly promoted Serie A side Salernitana in September.
The 38-year-old has made 12 league appearances so far, but is yet to find the net for the Serie A strugglers.
Salernitana currently sit bottom of the table with just eight points from 18 matches and are five adrift of 17th placed Spezia.
Alaba meanwhile, has made 23 appearances for Real Madrid, and has already become a key player in the centre of defence for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
