Richarlison on collision course with Everton as ace disagrees with club’s stance

Richarlison is set for a collision course with Everton after disagreeing with their stance.

The forward has his heart set on playing for Brazil at the Olympics, which is scheduled to go ahead this summer at Tokyo.

And then he is desperate to take part in the Copa America, but he fears his club will stand in his way.

The ex-Watford star has become an integral member of the Brazil national team in recent years after making his debut shortly after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Since then, he has featured a total of 23 times and scoring eight.

Selecao manager Tite is expected to pick Richarlison for the upcoming tournaments, especially if he continues his bright form for Everton.

But the 23-year-old has admitted he might be forced into picking one competition to take part in as a result of a disagreement with his club.

“This year there’s the Copa America and there’s also the Olympics," he told ESPN. "It seems that the club doesn’t want to let me go [to both].

"[They] just wants to release me to one, I think it’s for the Copa America, I don’t know. I was called up, I told them that I want to go to the Copa America and the Olympics, if I’m called.

“Like it or not, I don’t know if I’ll have another opportunity for the Olympics because I’m in the age [bracket]. I want to play, I want to go.

"Because I've never played an Olympics and we’ll be defending our title.

"So, I want to go, yes. It will be talked about here inside the club to know what decision will be made.”

Everton are reluctant to allow their star man to play at two different tournaments after such a bizarre year in the Premier League.

With no pre-season and a congested fixture list, the Toffees want Richarlison to enjoy an extended break at the end of the season.

But if he joins up with the Brazil side, he will start the new campaign with hardly any rest at all – risking fatigue later on.
