Robbie Keane has praised Daniel Levy for how he handled Harry Kane's rumoured move to Manchester City from Tottenham.
Kane had been targeted by Pep Guardiola's side all summer after Sergio Aguero had left the blue half on Manchester.
But Levy was determined not to let his star striker leave without a fight, and after a summer full of rumours Kane opted to stay.
He tweeted: "I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success."
And former Spurs striker Keane has praised Levy on Sky Sports for keeping hold of Kane.
"I don’t think Harry [Kane] has come off it too good to be honest.
"But the week he scored two goals, it’s fairly obvious he wanted to leave. You need to give Daniel Levy credit.
"I do believe there was something going on in the background with Manchester City – where they didn’t behave too good with the rumours I’m hearing.
"But it’s clear to see that he wanted to go, for a Spurs POV it’s great he wants to stay but did he sign a form and maybe leave next season?
"It feels like something is happening in the background."
Keane then spoke about his time working with Levy: "Well yeah kind of [on gentleman's agreements from his time].
"When I was going to Liverpool for example, Daniel made it hard for me with Berbatov.
"But if he wants his players to say, to be fair Tottenham are at a different stage now when myself and Berbatov were there, a club that seems to be on the up.
"But for Kane probably wants to leave, he’s starting from scratch again, full credit to Daniel but how long he’s going to be there I don’t know."
