Ronaldo produces ‘miss of the season’ in crucial Juventus match against Napoli

Cristiano Ronaldo produced the 'miss of the season' as Juventus kept their slim Serie A title hopes alive against Napoli.

The Old Lady are 12 points adrift of leaders Inter Milan despite their 2-1 win at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday night.

Ronaldo opened the scoring after just 12 minutes, but it was the star's miss earlier in the match which attracted attention.

He was picked out by Danilo with just over a minute gone but couldn't turn the ball home, heading wide from close range.

The former Real Madrid man took his frustration out on the post, kicking it in anger after squandering a golden chance.

Social media trolls took great delight in Ronaldo's miss and immediately shared the clip on Twitter, mocking the striker.

Ronaldo had the last laugh, though, with the 36-year-old ace tucking home the opening goal just over 10 minutes later.

It proved the catalyst for a much-needed Juve win, with Paulo Dybala adding a second midway through the second-half.

Lorenzo Insigne pulled one back from the penalty spot in injury time, but Juventus clung on to secure all three points.

Victory lifts the Old Lady above Atalanta and back into third spot as pressure continues to grow on Andrea Pirlo.

The rookie boss has had a difficult time since taking over from Maurizio Sarri and could end the season without a trophy.
