Roy Keane’s prediction for Ronaldo weeks before his walk-out proved bang on
Roy Keane’s early prediction, things will “get ugly” between Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have come true.
Tension appears to be permeating the Old Trafford air after the iconic No.7 walked off during United’s impressive 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Erik ten Hag has responded in swift fashion, not only dropping him from United’s squad to face Chelsea, but also publicly claiming the former Real Madrid ace refused to come on as a substitute to face Tottenham.
It is the latest chapter of Ten Hag and Ronaldo’s apparently strained relationship, that began when the Portuguese ace was reportedly desperate to force his way out of the red side of Manchester. And with all understanding between manager and player appearing to be beyond repair, Keane’s prediction, after United’s 6-3 defeat to Manchester City, has been doing the rounds again.

“Man United are showing disrespect to Ronaldo,” Keane said at the start of the month. “I think he should've been let go before the transfer window.”
Keane added: “It’s just going to get ugly and I think United have shown nothing but disrespect to Ronaldo. They should have let him go when the opportunity came.
“He did have options to go, I know that for a fact, and holding onto him to sit on the bench… I think it’s ridiculous for a player of his stature. “Even today, could he have brought him on? Of course, he could've brought him on.

Ronaldo has contributed one Premier League goal in eight appearances, although he has only started two domestic matches this season.
