Sadio Mane: How many games will Liverpool star miss after positive COVID-19 test?
Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has returned a positive test for coronavirus. He becomes the second Liverpool player to contract COVID-19 after midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
The club said Mane has “minor symptoms” and will now self-isolate.
A Liverpool statement read: “Sadio Mane has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently self-isolating according to the necessary guidelines.
“The forward, who started and scored in Monday’s 3-1 victory over Arsenal, has displayed minor symptoms of the virus but feels in good health overall.
“However, like with Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool Football Club are – and will continue to – follow all protocols relating to COVID-19 and Mane will self-isolate for the required period of time.”
How many games will Sadio Mane miss?
According to NHS guidelines, anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 must self-isolate for at least 10 days.
Mane will now miss the trip to Aston Villa this weekend.
The international break follows that game, therefore, Mane could return for the Merseyside derby on October 17.
