Solskjaer gives Marcus Rashford injury update as Man Utd face West Ham

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given an update on Marcus Rashford's injury as Manchester United face West Ham at the weekend.

The Red Devils were beaten at Old Trafford on Wednesday by Paris St-Germain in the Champions League.

It leaves them, PSG and RB Leipzig all on nine points going into the final game of the group stage.

United need a point in Germany to secure qualification but they may have to do so with the services of Rashford.

The Englishman was forced off with a shoulder injury as attentions turn to the weekend.

Solskjaer's men face West Ham – who are having a fine run of form and find themselves fifth in the Premier League.

And the Norweigan was coy over an update on Rashford's injury.

He said: "It's just niggling him that shoulder injury.

"Hopefully he will be ready for West Ham, but we don't know."

If he is ruled out, United could be short on options with Edinson Cavani facing a three-match ban for a derogatory social media post.

That would leave Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood, Daniel James and Odion Ighalo as their top attackers.

After the Hammers, United take on Leipzig and while they lost to PSG, Solskjaer has been positive about the defeat.

He said: “I’m very pleased with performance apart from the fact they were more clinical.

“We need to be clinical in these type of games.

"Big games most of the time are decided by fine margins and this time they were against us.

“We know the destiny is in our own hands, we know that we play against a good team Leipzig, who were in the semi final last year, but we are developing into a better team as well.”

Solskjaer will be without Luke Shaw for the weekend, who picked up a hamstring injury last month.
