Tottenham staff have been surprised by a snake while mowing the grass at the training ground – prompting fans to all make the same joke.

The reptile made a shock appearance at Hotspur Way this morning (June 17) as temperatures soared to a 2022-high across the UK, with parts of London reaching over 30 degrees Celsius. Ground staff Darren Baldwin and JD captured it slithering across the pitches and shared it to social media.

It didn't take long for Spurs fans to flood the comments with references to the former player they know as "Judas". One swiftly replied: "Nice of Sol Campbell to drop in."

"Who let Sol Campbell back in," echoed a second post, with one writing: "Beat me to it."

One asked: "@SolManOfficial That you fella?" While another joked: "Tell Sol Campbell he’s not welcome."

Campbell earned his unwanted nickname after he completed a stunning switch to their arch rivals Arsenal out of the blue in 2001. The move went completely under the radar, with only two journalists turning up to the mystery press conference held by Arsene Wenger.

The ex-England defender was ridiculed upon his return to White Hart Lane, with fans holding up "Judas" signs and shirts. Campbell wasn't the only former Spurs player to be compared to the snake, though.

One fan replied: "Kyle walker signing back for us?" Another added: "Did not have Kyle Walker returning to Spurs on my bingo card for this transfer window for sure."

Manchester City right-back Walker left the club on bad terms in 2017. One fan opted to ignore all the drama and simply post: "Yves Hissouma, Luis Boaconstrictor, Emmanuel Adderbayor, ViPer Mertesacker. What else you got??"
