Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Daichi Kamada, who is out of contract at the end of the season. The midfielder is attracting plenty of interest from around Europe, with many impressed by his performances at the Qatar World Cup.

Kamada was a standout star for Japan in their successful tournament, being knocked out in the Round of 16 by Croatia having progressed through a group containing Spain, Germany and Costa Rica. The 26-year-old’s displays won’t come as too great of a shock to many though.

Borussia Dortmund, Roma and Everton are among those who have been linked with Kamada, with Frankfurt desperate to retain their playmaker by offering him a new contract. But Tottenham will be hoping that he does not pen a new deal with the Bundesliga outfit, according to BILD.

The north London outfit are also in the running for Kamada and are considering a bid for the midfielder in the January transfer window. Antonio Conte is still not content with his options in the centre of the park and the addition of a more creative star in that department could be the final piece of the puzzle for the Italian.

Kamada has scored seven goals and assisted another three in 13 league appearances for Frankfurt so far this season. The former Sagan Tosu star has also shown versatility in his play, being willing to play as a makeshift forward as well as a wide player – which won’t have gone unnoticed by Conte.

Tottenham have relied on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur so far this campaign, with summer signing Yves Bissouma being used as a rotational option. Though injuries are threatening to hamper Spurs so Kamada could prove to be a welcome addition.

Though former Spurs goalkeeper believes that the club should be prioritising signing Juventus star Weston McKennie, who has also been linked with the club. He told Football Insider: “I think McKennie would add something to the midfield. Spurs have to be careful of just amassing players though. They have got a decent squad.

“They have got to sign players who are going to improve their starting XI now. I know there will be rotation with the Champions League but it’s about quality not quantity in the next few transfer windows. Weston McKennie is a player I like. He is someone who would fit Conte’s style of play. He has the right attitude and physical attributes. I was very impressed with him in the World Cup. Spurs are no longer looking for cheap buys. They are looking for top players who are going to make a major impression on the team.”
