Transfers that fans of every Premier League club want to see completed

It's August 31 and it should have been transfer deadline day – but 2020 is not like any other year.

As we dive into September this week, there is still a whole month of the transfer window to go as football tries to align itself back to a schedule more reminiscent of normality.

So, with 30-plus days of business still to be undertaken, what exactly do the fans want to see happen?

Over the past few weeks, Daily Star Sport have been asking fans of every Premier League club to let us know which position they want their team to strengthen.

After thousands of responses, we compiled the full list and plucked out the position each team's fans most want to see arrive.

Here is what we found out…

Arsenal

  • Most popular position: Centre Back – 43%

Mikel Arteta is making waves as Arsenal boss but he knows he needs quality reinforcements at the back if he is to truly get his team to challenge.

Gabriel Magalhaes looks like he will be the man to come in and fill that void, but the Gunners have also been linked with other names, suggesting a centre-back arrival is on the way.

Who have they been linked with? Gabriel Magalhaes (Lille), Diego Carlos (Sevilla)

Aston Villa

  • Most popular position: Striker – 85%

Wesley really struggled to adapt to Premier League life last season before picking up a nasty injury in January. Villa's lack of squad depth was then laid bare with Mbwana Samatta and Keinan Davis failing to do much better.

If Villa want to survive again next season then they really need to invest up top.

Who have they been linked with? Ollie Watkins (Brentford), Milot Rashica (Werder Bremen), Divock Origi (Liverpool)

Burnley

  • Most popular position: Attacking midfield- 50%

A solid 10th place finish for Sean Dyche's side last season but with a negative goal difference of seven there's room for improvement.

Attacking midfield is a popular choice amongst the fans and based on hose stats that sounds about right.

Who have they been linked with? Teemu Pukki (Norwich)

Chelsea

  • Most popular position: Centre Back – 41%

It seems as though Thiago Silva's arrival isn't enough for Chelsea fans – and with him turning 36 this month that's probably wise.

Kai Havertz is all but done but could Frank Lampard bring in one more defender before the window shuts?

Who have they been linked with? John Stones (Man City), Declan Rice (West Ham)

Crystal Palace

  • Most popular position: Striker- 57%

Jordan Ayew did a steady job last season but he could use some support up top. Wilfried Zaha of course chips in with goals and assists but the winger can't be relied upon in every game.

Danny Welbeck's name has been mentioned following Watford's relegation but is he really the man to solve Palace's problems?

Who have they been linked with? Jean-Philippe Mateta (Mainz), Ryan Fraser (free agent)

Everton

  • Most popular position: Defensive midfield – 37%

Morgan Schneiderlin has moved on and Andre Gomes is split among Toffees fans, they could do with more depth in defensive midfield.

It's ironic, however, that the Blues have been heavily linked with an injury prone attacking midfielder in James Rodriqguez.

Who have they been linked with? Abdoulaye Doucoure (Watford), Solly March (Brighton) James Rodriguez (Real Madrid)

Fulham

  • Most popular position: Centre Back – 38%

Fulham learnt the hard way a few summers back when they went a little over the top in the transfer window. Trusting their already very good squad will be key for Scott Parker.

Chris Smalling has been linked with a return to Craven Cottage following a successful loan with Roma in Serie A.

Who have they been linked with? Chris Smalling (Man Utd), Florentino Luis (Benfica)

Leeds United

  • Most popular position: Striker – 50%

Finally, Leeds are back in the big time – and they won't want to leave anytime soon.

Marcelo Bielsa will need to add to his squad and it seems as though attackers are the preference. Patrick Bamford is a great player but he probably doesn't get the goals Leeds will desperately need in the Premier League.

Who have they been linked with? Michy Batshuayi (Chelsea), Nicolas Gonzalez (Stuttgart), Nicolae Stanciu (Slavia Prague), Sean McGurk (Wigan Athletic)

Leicester City

  • Most popular position: Striker- 45%

Leicester were pipped at the post to a top four finish last season and they certainly won't want that to happen again.

Tying down James Maddison has been a real coup for the club but Brendan Rodgers won't want their transfer business to stop there.

Who have they been linked with? Odsonne Edouard (Celtic), Dwight McNeil (Burnley)

Liverpool

  • Most popular position: Attacking midfield – 36%

It's hard to pick holes in a Premier League title winning squad yet Jurgen Klopp won't want to sit still.

Thiago Alcantara has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield but that seems unlikely unless they sell.

Who have they been linked with? Thiago Alcantara (Liverpool), Ismaila Sarr (Watford)

Manchester City

  • Most popular position: Centre Back – 57%

City have already added Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres to their squad this summer. But with Eric Garcia's future in doubt another defender will likely be needed to partner Aymeric Laporte.

Guardiola will be desperate to return to the top of the Premier League table and signings will help.

Who have they been linked with? Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli)

Manchester United

  • Most popular position: Centre Back – 31%

Donny van de Beek's move to United is all but announced while their pursuit of Jadon Sancho has gone cold.

However, United's biggest weakness is still at the back. Could Dayot Upamecano solve all of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's problems?

Who have they been linked with? Dayot Upamecano (RB Leipzig), Gabriel Magalhaes (Lille)

Newcastle United

  • Most popular position: Striker – 90%

Steve Bruce won't need to be told his side lacks fire power.

Joelinton really failed in his first season at St James' Park and Dwight Gayle has yet to really prove it in the big league.

Jeff Hendrick is a solid start but Newcastle will need more.

Who have they been linked with? Callum Wilson (Bournemouth), David Brooks (Bournemouth), Harry Wilson (Liverpool), Joshua King (Bournemouth)

Sheffield United

  • Most popular position: Striker – 76%

Yet another team who need a striker.

Chris Wilder's side had a fantastic season last time out but after having scored the same number of goals they conceded there is room for improvement.

Could someone like Callum Wilson from recently relegated Bournemouth fill the void?

Who have they been linked with? Rhian Brewster (Liverpool), Callum Wilson (Bournemouth)

Southampton

  • Most popular position: Centre Back – 38%

Southampton produced a remarkable turnaround under Ralph Hasenhuttl last season now the board must back him in the summer transfer window.

Fans want to see a defender join the club and Celtic's Kristoffer Ajer could be the one.

Who have they been linked with? Kristoffer Ajer (Celtic)

Tottenham

  • Most popular position: Full Back – 43%

Jose Mourinho will be absolutely desperate to prove his critics wrong and be a success at Spurs.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty have already been added but that won't be enough for Tottenham to get back into the top four.

Who have they been linked with? Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Arsenal), Zeki Celik (Lille)

West Bromwich Albion

  • Most popular position: Striker – 87%

West Brom just about sealed automatic promotion from the Championship but like Fulham and Leeds they will need to invest this summer.

Charlie Austin has experience in the Premier League but it seems as though fans are desperate for more up top.

Who have they been linked with? Troy Deeney (West Brom)

West Ham United

  • Most popular position: Full Back – 39%

David Moyes has kept his job at West Ham this time after keeping them safe – can he go on to prove he's something more than a survival expert at the London Stadium?

He'll certainly need reinforcements to help his cause and fans want to see more depth added in the full-back positions.

Who have they been linked with? Vladimir Coufal (Slavia Prague), Shane Duffy (Brighton)

Wolverhampton Wanderers

  • Most popular position: Striker – 39%

Wolves were in the top four race for much of last season but like Leicester they too were pipped.

Could more squad depth have helped them clinch Champions League football?

Despite the formidable Raul Jimenez fans want to see more added up top.

Who have they been linked with? Lucas Ocampos (Sevilla), Jhon Cordoba (Koln)
