Wenger explains why he’s questioning Klopp’s decision to stick with Alisson

Arsene Wenger has questioned Jurgen Klopp's decision to stick with Alisson, saying he appears to be the type of player who carries mistakes with him from one game to the next.

Alisson has been in poor form in recent weeks, and dropped two clangers in Liverpool's 4-1 defeat by Manchester City.

The Brazil number one then made a mistake in Liverpool's 3-1 defeat by Leicester City, but Klopp is sticking with the goalkeeper for the time being.

Klopp picked him between the sticks for the Reds against RB Leipzig this Tuesday, with the former Roma star keeping a clean sheet.

Ahead of the game legendary Arsenal boss Wenger questioned the decision on beIN SPORTS, saying: "Alisson Becker, for me, isn't the main problem of Liverpool. He is the consequence of the problem of Liverpool, and that's a little bit different.

"Secondly, to make that decision, you need to know the character of the player. For me, Alisson Becker, looks to carry the mistakes from one game to the next one.

"That's why you can question, 'Do you stick with him or not?'"

Wenger also spoke out about Thiago Alcantara, and provided his thoughts on why things haven't been working out for the Spaniard at Liverpool this season.

"Thiago Alcantara, for me, shows the typical problem of a manger. For example Liverpool were very hungry and aggressive in midfield.

"When you're manager you want to make the team better and you [sign] a technical player.

"But when you [sign] a technical player you lose the aggression in midfield and you destroy a bit of the strength Liverpool had before.

"They have certainly less capacity today to win the ball back and they suffer a little bit more, so sometimes when you want to improve the team, you take a little something away from the team."
