What Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done behind the scenes to prepare for Jadon Sancho transfer
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done his due diligence ahead of Manchester United’s planned swoop for Jadon Sancho. The Borussia Dortmund sensation has emerged as the club’s top transfer target ahead of the next window. Sancho has enjoyed terrific back-to-back campaigns and is valued at £120million by Dortmund.
An important aspect of Solskjaer’s reign at Old Trafford has been signing ultra-professional players he believes can reconnect the club with the fans.
As a result, he has done his homework on players such as requesting references from Cristiano Ronaldo before swooping for Bruno Fernandes while opting against signing a striker last summer in case he signed the wrong one.
According to the Evening Standard, Solskjaer ordered reports on Sancho to ensure he is the complete package on and off the pitch.
The likes of Marcus Rashford, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay and Mason Greenwood represent a new generation.
And Solskjaer reportedly believes Sancho will slot in perfectly.
KEY STORY: Man Utd in Jadon Sancho transfer boost as agent shuts down Chelsea and Liverpool moves
The England international has delivered 30 goals and 38 assists in 78 appearances for Dortmund over the last two seasons to emerge as one of the hottest prospects around.
A string of clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid have been credited with an interest in securing his services.
Dortmund have admitted they will not stand in his way if he wants to depart.
Speaking on Sunday, Hans-Joachim Watzke, the club’s CEO, said: “Even before the coronavirus outbreak, we said that we prefer that Jadon stays with us.
“At the end of the day, however, you always have to respect what the player wants.”
But Watzke warned interested clubs Dortmund will not be budging from their hefty valuation of Sancho.

Man Utd may choose Cristiano Ronaldo over Harry Kane transfer – because of Ed Woodward
“I’ll say clearly say that even the very rich clubs shouldn’t believe that they can come here to snap up bargains,” he said.
“We don’t have to sell anyone for less than they’re worth.”
Both Solskjaer and United bigwig Ed Woodward believe Sancho ticks all the boxes for the club having watched him blitz Bundesliga defences.
They are prepared to hand him the No 7 shirt and a bumper pay packet to become the club’s highest-earner.
A leading agent has fuelled talk of a move to Old Trafford for Sancho by shutting down the prospect of moves to Liverpool and Chelsea.
Speaking to the South China Morning Post, the agent said: “No matter how good Sancho is, there’s actually a limited market for him right now.

“Dortmund won’t sell to Bayern Munich, not just because they’re their biggest rivals but Dortmund are in a better financial position than when they sold players in the past like Lewandowski.
“Liverpool are not in the market for £100 million players and they don’t need him. I’ve dealt with Klopp – they’d rather pay half that amount for a player a step or two behind Sancho who they think they can improve.”
On Chelsea, the agent added: “I’ve read the Chelsea speculation and I’m convinced that it’s the agents ramping up the talk to try and create an auction situation which would suit them and Dortmund.
“Chelsea will lose Pedro and Willian for nothing when the season ends.
“Roman Abramovich is more about patching the squad up now than breaking transfer records.
“They let Morata go and brought Tammy Abraham back on loan. They took Higuain on loan. They’re not going crazy any more.”
