Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has urged Jurgen Klopp to sign Jadon Sancho over both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland this summer.
The ex-England international, who joined the Reds in 2000 from Leicester City, was asked who he believes Klopp should target this summer.
Despite being given the option of Mbappe and Haaland, two of Europe’s brightest talents, he plucked for Borussia Dortmund’s Sancho, who he feels would be a better coup for Liverpool.
Liverpool should sign Jadon Sancho for his his ability to terrorise defences, says Emile Heskey
Ex-Liverpool striker believes Sancho is better option than Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe
Heskey revealed he chose Sancho for his entertainment factor as well as his ability to ‘terrorise defences.’
Speaking to GentingBet, Heskey said: ‘Mbappe is a phenomenal player who is another player who keeps on rising and is only going to get better and better.
‘He’s focused more to keep the consistency going at that age is just phenomenal. It’s difficult, because for Liverpool you’d choose a player who was more on the wing than central. But again, Haaland’s goals are a key factor.
‘I’m going to patriotic and say that Sancho would be great, being an England player and an entertaining player as well. I would say someone like that would be great to get on the wing and terrorise defences.’
World Cup winner and PSG star Mbappe is widely considered best prospect in world football
Heskey chose Sancho over his Dortmund team-mate Haaland
Borussia Dortmund star Sancho is a man in demand with a host of Premier League giants chasing his signature after another stellar campaign in the Bundesliga.
Dortmund recently admitted that it was out of their hands whether Sancho leaves during the summer transfer window but did warn clubs they will not be able to sign him on the cheap.
The Bundesliga side are said to want at least £100million for the England international, who has scored 14 league goals and provided 16 assists this season.
The winger’s contract at Dortmund runs until 2022 but with such vast European interest, Sancho could leave Signal Iduna Park sooner than expected.
Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona are among the host of clubs vying for his signature, while his former side Manchester City may also look to enter the transfer race to get him back at the Etihad.
